Coaching career

Cotter's coaching career began in 1999 with the Knox Basketball Incorporated as a director of coaching (1999-2007) and head coach (2000-2007). From 2006 to 2009, Cotter was the assistant coach to the Australian Development Team, head coach of the under 18 NSW Metropolitan State team and assistant coach to the Australian Emus, who named him as their head coach in 2009.
